Dusty D met two nice young folks involved with the
Ypsi Project today, by chance, in the archives today. The lady flattered DD by saying she would like a photo of yours truly to add to her collection of pics of Ypsi-ish folks. DD thanked her kindly for the compliment--but combine extreme shyness with a complete lack of any sort of photogenic quality on this wizened, grumpy, puckered, pickled, warty, weathered, wrinkly, chicken-scratched old face crowned with terminal matted bike-helmet-hair and...I think the world may just have to wonder what the elusive DD actually looks like.
Catch me if you can, young-'uns!
Now, if they take a nice, cheap daguerreotype of yours truly instead of one a them new-fangled fancy color photographs that cost a horse and a hounds'-tooth, I might take 'em up on it.
ReplyDeleteI've wondered if we've passed on the street before :) I found out that we have mutual friends (the Basherts) and I was going to ask what you looked like, but that would be creepy.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on pictures. I am not shy, but I look extra fat in every single picture. It doesn't matter how I'm sitting, I somehow always have my fat blubs up front and center.
Oh, I look average. Medium height, short dishwater hair, little spectacles and what I choose to regard as "biker's thighs."
ReplyDeleteOh it's on now ;) we'll catch you. I know we have plans to come back on Thursday to do some more digging around. We shall be prepared.
ReplyDeleteMike: Yoicks! Oh, so you were that nice young gentleman. Nice to put a face to a name. If you'd like me to investigate something at the Archives, I'd be delighted to. I can make scans of things and email them to you or mail you copies of items. I know the limited hours are difficult for some folks, but I'm there all the time and would be delighted to research a topic if you like. Or help you in person (I'm there every Friday, and randomly on other days). At any rate, thank you for visiting this blog and our beloved Archives!
ReplyDeleteSo...what if I take your Ypsi pic with a pin hole camera? :)
ReplyDeleteHmm? Hmmm? Yes? Yes?
Dear Erica: Pinhole camera would be acceptable. Heck-schmeck, I'm flattered that you young'uns have interest in me at all! Any camera, blarney aside, is fine. I am also movable, and can come to a place convenient to you for the photo project. Thank you kindly for thinking of me and including me in your project--that is really nice!
ReplyDelete(aside) Dusty D is getting old. And that's OK. I like being a wrinkly curmudgeon. It's still nice to see the young'uns perpetuatin' the Ypsi cool. More power to 'em!
ReplyDeleteYou have really great taste on catch article titles, even when you are not interested in this topic you push to read it
ReplyDeleteIt is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)
