Ypsilanti's Venerable Ark

Old Noah built himself an ark,

There's one wide river to cross!

He built it out of hickory bark,

There's one wide river to cross!

There's one wide river,

And that wide river is Jordan,

There's one wide river,

There's one wide river to cross.

Trying to decipher what the top sign says (on the back of the mannequin in the peak of the roof). Can you tell, DD?

Guess there's some roots to the idea of Ypsilanti as a re-sale hub, tho! With the opening of Kim's in Depot Town, the industry is booming...

Don't you kinda wish we still had stores like this? Yeah I know they would burn down quickly, but I'd love to walk up the street and see older folks sitting outside just chillaxing. Hell, in the summer, you and I could join them :)

Lisele: On peering closely at the sign I see I made a mistake. I originally read it as advertising cough drops. It says:

**T COUES FROM
SMITH BROS
CLOTHING STORE
IT'S GOOD.

Teacher Patti: I do indeed wish we still had stores like this. Though a new secondhand store, Kim's, just opened in Depot Town.

I'm sure the city fathers were delighted when this of all buildings survived the 1851 fire. :)

"If it comes from Smith Clothing Stores, it's good." Hmmmm. Then why is he fleeing over the housetop? He reminds me of those Halloween witch decorations, a flying witch that went "splat" on the front door. Is he fleeing? Or flying? Or fleecing (the customers)? Just seems a very strange figure to be poised in the gable that way...?!?!

Ahh, "if it comes"! Thank you for figuring that out! There we go!

It is an odd way to advertise one's business...but seems to be in keeping with a perhaps somewhat offbeat place.
